Clearing the way with Clear Path Senior Services

When Marylou Bawden’s, owner of newly launched Clear Path Senior Services, mother-in-law began the process of clearing out her home of 50 plus years, she was fortunate to have her family to help her. This, however, raised a question for Bawden – how do seniors cope with stressful events such as downsizing, sorting and moving house?

Downsizing and moving out of the familiar family home is often the last thing that one wants to face. The home is filled with happy memories, and it is often feared that this, along with privacy and space will be lost when downsizing.

“In addition, children are often living out of the province or country as well as having their own responsibilities with careers, families and households to run that they need assistance with the logistics of getting the job done,” continued Bawden.

Clear Path takes over this process, starting with a full inventory and floorplan of the new residence after which they coordinate the dispersal of excess items by either donating, discarding or selling for a fair value. They then arrange all aspects of the move from packing all the way to hanging the last painting in the new home.  Clear Path can also assist with shipping of items to go to family members and finally they stage the home for selling.

Bawden says that when it comes to assisting with downsizing and moving, their goal is to support the seniors and help them through every stage of the moving process with understanding and compassion. 

“We help them to pare down and pack up, we coordinate the moving out process and the settling in process, complete with hanging pictures,” says Bawden.

EXPERIENCE

Bawden has over 10 years of experience in the exhibition industry which gives her extensive project management and organisational skills. With over 15 years of experience in the antique industry, Bawden has an inherent understanding of whether an item has potential value and this, along with contacts in the antique, art and vintage industries will ensure that items get the best value should the decision be made to sell them.
